Think Tank Mindshift BackLight 18L

A backpack from the BackLight series with an 18 litre capacity, designed to hold two standard-sized camera bodies with lenses attached and one to three standard zoom lenses. The maximum lens size it can accommodate is a 300 mm f/2.8 or a 150–600 mm f/5–6.3 mounted on a camera body.

Compartments and access

Camera equipment is accessed via the back panel without needing to remove the backpack. By rotating the bag to the front while the waist belt remains secured, you can change lenses or take photos. Dedicated compartments fit a laptop up to 13 inches and a 10 inch tablet. The front pockets provide a total volume of 5 litres for personal gear, and a zipped top pocket allows quick access to essentials. Internal mesh pockets are included for filters, batteries, and cables.

Carrying system and details

The padded waist belt features a rail for modular pockets or accessories. For back comfort, the bag includes an air channel and lumbar support. A mount for a tripod or monopod is located on the front or side. The bag has two large water bottle pockets that fit a 907 g Nalgene, as well as ice axe loops and attachment points to extend carrying capacity. Side compression straps use lockable SR buckles. Ergonomic YKK zippers are designed for easy grip with gloves.

Materials and dimensions

The exterior is made of 420D Velocity and 420D high-density nylon with a water-repellent coating and polyurethane on the underside. A seam-sealed rain cover is included. The bag meets most international and US carry-on requirements, though airline regulations should be checked. External dimensions are 270 x 470 x 180 mm (W x H x D) and internal dimensions are 220 mm wide, 260 mm high, and 150 mm deep. The weight is 1600 g.
