Think Tank Mindshift BackLight Long Lens Backpack

This backpack from the BackLight series has a volume of 32 l and can accommodate a 600 mm f/4 or 800 mm f/5.6 lens with the tripod foot mounted and attached to a camera body with a vertical grip and L-bracket. The deep photo compartment fits a lens with a diameter of up to 20 cm mounted on a gripped camera. The divider system can be configured for one large lens and a gripped camera body, or for multiple gripped bodies and 5–6 professional lenses. A padded pocket fits a tablet up to 13 inches, such as an iPad Pro (2024). The rear access panel allows you to reach your gear while the bag is either upright or lying flat.

Compartments and storage

The front pockets provide a total capacity of 7 litres for personal items such as extra clothes, food, and a light jacket. An easily accessible front pocket is used for organising headlamps, chargers, and gloves. Inside, there are mesh pockets for filters, batteries, and cables. Mounts for a tripod and monopod are located on the front and sides.

Carrying system and ergonomics

The carrying system is adjustable at nine points and includes load lifters, a chest strap, and a quick-adjust waist belt. The waist belt is robustly padded and features a rail for attaching Think Tank Modular accessories. The back panel is made of breathable 320G air mesh with an air channel for cooling the lower back. Attachment points for trekking poles and axes are located on the shoulder straps and front panel.

Materials and protection

The outer fabric consists of 420D Dynatec nylon and the lining of 210D silver nylon. The construction includes high-density Velex, closed-cell PU foam, and lockable YKK RC Fuse zips. The photo compartment is secured with a 38 mm aluminium hook to prevent the panel from opening under heavy loads. Side compression straps feature lockable SR buckles, and side rails are used for accessory bags.
